A Precious Moment

Dear Amu & Aru
I cherish the moments we share together. May be thats because I don't spend time with you enough.
Sometimes i do think that whether should i go for work or spend time and watch your growing years. But then i do think you will appreciate maa when you grow up and see what she could do.
Yes, I struggle to match expectation. To match times. To match other mothers influence and interference.
But what i enjoy most is the hug you give me as soon as i meet you. Its priceless..
Hope you forgive me for not spending enough time with you but i know you love me for what I am and will be proud of me when you start understanding life.

This is the first time you played together.
Without
Pulling each others hair. (which will go off soon)
Wanting the red or white ball and vice versa.
Saying 'mine' and 'yours'.
Crying, howling and running away angry.

Brownie points for behaving well & hope this continues.

I wonder...

How they learn to climb on a table.
That the a light is supposed to be switched on and off.
A sandal in my feet means I am stepping step out.
Right hand for amu and left for aru waves goodbye on its own.
Hide and seek means hiding behind a sofa.
Biscuit means chewing. Water means sipping.
And eyes shut means sleeping.
Feet mean to walk.
A smile. A peck and a 'godhi' means that we love them.
I wonder...

Toy Tales

I am in Singapore right now. If it was 4 months back, I would be busy shopping toys for Aru and Amu rather than writing this. It's not that I don't enjoy buying toys for them. It's just that none of the toys I have bought so far have managed to replace the ones they have created for themselves. If you look at the number of toys they have and then look at what they are happy playing with you will understand what I am trying to say. Stuffed animals, stuffed dolls, stuffed you-name-it, cars, trucks, vans, books, more books, the noisy ones, the quiet ones, the big ones, the small ones... they all are waiting for their turn to come. Has their turn come? Sir no sir! It has always been spoons, steel plates, bowls, agarbatti stand, plastic bottles and their caps (caps get a special mention here), remote controls, DVDs (sigh!) and our mobile phones that they fancy the most. And find happiness in them. Not that I am complaining. I hope they stay that way. Atleast they will compensate for the extravagance their mother shows in buying stuff for them :-)

A Feeling of Compassion

Week after week, days pass like years. One morning I come back thinking the same thing…Wow! 

I have done it. I am a  mother of two wonderful kids. I wish I could say aloud ‘I hate waking up in the morning to their screaming’ but now I want to accept that this is exactly the way I want it to be.  Eyes open at 5:30. I love to see amu and aru smiling and waiting to be in my arms. There is a lot beyond what I see, they look at me in awe. Knowing that I am their mum. They make me crazy at time (almost all times to be precise.) I want to lock my self in a room but the next moment I love being around them.They have made me patient. They have thought me the art of expressing yourself with a smile. 

ABCD for me is ‘A, Pee’ for Aaradhya. And who is Ma ? A picture frame. An I phone. A peck on the cheek and a big ‘no’. Anything they do which is unacceptable I say  ‘No’ and they obey nodding only to the same thing again.Thankyou Amu &Aru  for adding so much of compassion in my life.

Aaradhya says PAPA!!!

This one happened a few months back. I was out of India for 5 days. Now 5 days is a long time to catch up on a lot of things, especially if you are a toddler. So when I came back I was expecting something new out of Aru and Amu. In the morning, while I was busy reading a newspaper and Aru was busy fiddling with two toy cars, I heard the unthinkable. Aru said PAPA. I quickly folded the paper and looked at Aru in disbelief, not able to believe if I had heard it right. Aru was smiling at me and he repeated himself... PAPA. Suddenly there was a guitar and a sitar playing in the background for me. Before the music could reach a crescendo Aru turned to one the the toy cars, looked at it and said... PAPA. He then turned to the other car and said... PAPA. And I turned back to the newspaper. The guitar and sitar had long gone quiet. And now all my requests of "Where is papa?" are met with him promptly pointing a finger towards one the paintings on the wall. Sigh!

Time flies!

If I remember correctly, Amu and Aru were born yesterday. And today they are already over one year old. I must admit that I wanted them to grow fast. Because they arrived a bit underweight. Because I was worried for them. Because I wanted to hold them in my arms without worrying about whether I was holding them properly or not. Somewhere between worrying about them and enjoying every first of theirs... time just flew. It was only yesterday that Amu was so weak that she would only clear her throat gently to indicate that she was hungry or needed a change of diaper. And today she screams to make sure her demands are met, that too on her terms and conditions. Aru was just the opposite. He used to scream so loud that I am sure my neighbours must have questioned the way we were treating him. Today he is forever smiling, content with whatever he has. The journey has been nothing short of magic. I will be back soon with more :-)
